Sell Surplus Test Equipment in Phoenix, AZ
The easiest way to sell surplus electronic test equipment in Phoenix is to send one local buyer a full list. Jay Hoehl Inc. (JHI) has handled used test and measurement equipment since 1980. Send the make, model and condition of each unit. We evaluate it free, pick it up or take a drop-off, and recycle what can't be reused.
What Surplus Test Equipment Do We Take?
We take test and measurement equipment from manufacturers' QA departments, R&D labs, production lines and lab closures across the Phoenix area. That can be a single network analyzer or a lab full of excess equipment. Typical items include:
- Network analyzers and radar test sets
- RF and microwave components and accessories
- Communication handsets and base-station test gear
- Bench instruments and other test lab equipment
- Industrial controls and semiconductor manufacturing equipment
Brands we handle include Keysight / Agilent / Hewlett Packard, Tektronix, Fluke, Keithley, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, Advanced Energy, Advantest and Aeroflex / IFR.
How to Sell Surplus Test Equipment in Phoenix: Step by Step
- Make a list. For each unit, write down the manufacturer, model number, installed options, quantity and condition (working, untested or for parts). Our bench test instrument selling checklist covers everything to include.
- Add photos. Clear photos of the front panel, the serial or model label and any accessories make the evaluation faster.
- Send it to us. Call (602) 272-4033 or use our contact form. We review your list for free.
- Pickup or drop-off. We schedule a pickup from your business, or you can bring the equipment to 3334 W McDowell Rd Ste 17, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
- Reuse first, then recycling. Equipment is evaluated for reuse. Anything that can't be reused is recycled responsibly, so nothing goes to the landfill.
If you want to get your gear ready before you call, read our guide to preparing surplus test equipment for evaluation.
What Affects the Value of Used Test Equipment?
Two instruments with the same model number can be worth very different amounts. These are the main factors:
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Model, age and specs | Bandwidth, frequency range and channel count set the market. Current models are in higher demand than discontinued ones. |
| Installed options and licenses | Software options and firmware licenses can add a lot to an instrument's value. List them, including any upgrades. |
| Condition | Units that power on and pass self-test are worth more. Screen damage, missing knobs or failed self-tests lower the value. |
| Calibration history | A recent calibration certificate shows the unit performs to spec. |
| Accessories | Probes, cables, adapters, manuals and original cases all count. Keep them with the unit. |
| Quantity | A whole lab or production line is evaluated as one lot. That saves you the time of selling each unit separately. |
Remove Data and IP Before Test Equipment Leaves Your Building
Many modern instruments store setups, waveforms, screenshots, test programs and network settings on internal drives or memory. Some also save files to USB. Before surplus equipment leaves your site, clear what you can, or tell us which units hold sensitive data. JHI provides data destruction: hard drives are either wiped using industry-standard methods or destroyed outright. The federal reference for media sanitization is NIST Special Publication 800-88. Read more in our guide to wiping data and IP from test instruments.
Test Equipment That Can't Be Reused
Old analog gear, damaged units and obsolete instruments still have value as electronic scrap. Circuit boards, connectors and components contain copper and precious metals. JHI recycles these responsibly instead of sending them to the landfill. The U.S. EPA explains why reusing and recycling electronics matters. Test equipment is only part of what we take. Surplus Test Equipment FAQ
Where can I sell used test equipment in Phoenix?
Businesses in the Phoenix area can sell or dispose of surplus test equipment through JHI. Send us your equipment list and we evaluate it for free, then schedule a pickup or you drop it off at our McDowell Rd location. Selling to one local buyer means you don't have to ship, list or haggle over each unit.
Is there a buyer that handles high-value test equipment, not just eBay?
Yes. Expensive oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers are often sold to businesses that specialize in used test and measurement equipment rather than listed online. JHI has evaluated test equipment from companies' QA and R&D departments since 1980.
How do I find out what my test equipment is worth?
The model, installed options, condition, calibration history and accessories decide the value. For a quick idea, look at what the same model actually sold for, not the asking prices. For a business lot, the fastest way is to send the full list to JHI for a free evaluation.
I inherited old Tektronix or HP scopes. Are they worth anything?
Often, yes. Older working scopes, meters and power supplies still have buyers. Units that don't work still have value as parts or electronic scrap. Don't throw them away; send us the model numbers first.
Do you take test equipment that doesn't work?
Yes. Non-working and untested units are still evaluated. If equipment can't be reused, it is recycled responsibly for its metals and components.
I was asked to clear out a storage room and I don't know what this equipment is. What should I do?
Photograph the model and serial labels on each unit and send them to us. We identify the equipment, evaluate what can be reused, and recycle the rest. You don't need to know what each instrument does.
Should I sell test equipment one unit at a time or as a lot?
Selling one unit at a time can work for a few common instruments, but it takes time. For a company with many units, a lab closure or a production line change, one evaluation and one pickup for the whole lot is much faster.
What information should I include when asking for a quote?
Include the manufacturer, model, installed options, quantity, condition, last calibration date and accessories. Add photos of each unit. Our selling checklist lists it all.
Do you pick up surplus test equipment?
Yes. JHI offers free evaluation and pickup of surplus industrial electronic material for businesses in Phoenix and Maricopa County. Call (602) 272-4033 to schedule.
