The main home for palladium is the multilayer ceramic capacitor. Boards are covered in them. A single motherboard can carry hundreds.
Each one stacks metal layers like sheets of pastry. Many of those layers are palladium or a palladium silver blend.
Palladium also plates connector pins and lead frames. It sits under gold on some contacts as a barrier layer.

Is it worth pulling capacitors off a board yourself? Almost never. Sorted material sells better than damaged material.

Platinum in Electronics: Rare, Quiet and Easy to Miss
Platinum shows up less often than silver or palladium. When it shows up, it matters.
Hard disk drive platters carry a platinum layer in the magnetic coating. Millions of drives get retired every year.

- Shipment to a permitted smelter or refiner
- Assay and settlement based on measured metal content
Chips and wafer level material follow their own path, since recycling semiconductors takes different handling than plain circuit board scrap.
Notice the order. Sorting comes before smelting. A recycler who skips grading is guessing at your check.
Ask any buyer how they grade. A straight answer is the whole test.
